Roxanne’s Story
Roxanne has faced a tough road over the past few months. After losing her beloved owner, she was left in the care of elderly family members who struggled to meet her needs. Recognizing that Roxanne deserved a more suitable home, they made the heartbreaking but selfless decision to surrender her to rescue.
Like many Dobermans, Roxanne has a strong prey drive and has shown that she isn’t suitable for homes with small animals. For her safety and the safety of other pets, she will need to be placed in a home without small dogs or other small animals. We prefer an experienced, pet-free home where she can decompress and adjust, but we’re open to discussing situations where experienced owners are willing to work closely with us on safe, structured introductions.
What Roxanne Needs
- A Confident, Experienced Handler: Roxanne will thrive with someone who understands the Doberman breed and can offer consistent structure and leadership.
- No Other Pets Preferred: This will help her decompress and adjust, though we are open to discussing situations with experienced owners who can provide slow, supervised introductions.
- Commitment to Her Well-being: Roxanne will benefit from ongoing training, enrichment, and patience as she continues to process her loss and adjust to a new life.
