We’re here for the long game. If you’re ready to make a thoughtful, supported decision, read on.

Adoption Fees

Standard Adoption Fee: $800
Enhanced Support Fee: $1200
(for dogs placed with additional training equipment and post-adoption support provided by WWDR.)

Your adoption fee helps cover the cost of care and preparation for adoption. This includes:

  • Age-appropriate vaccinations
  • Microchip and ID
  • Spay or neuter (if completed before adoption)
  • Initial veterinary exam
  • Parasite prevention
  • Basic training and transition support

These fees do not reflect the full cost of care. They help us remain sustainable while giving each Doberman the support they need to thrive.

Foster-to-Adopt Trial

Every adoption begins with a 30-day foster-to-adopt trial. The adoption fee is paid in full before placement, but the trial allows space to settle in before anything is finalized.

During the trial:

  • The dog can adjust to your home at their own pace
  • You get to assess fit, lifestyle, and training needs
  • We stay in touch to offer support and guidance

If the match is not right during the trial, the dog returns to us without penalty or judgment. Your adoption fee will be applied to another dog when a better fit becomes available.

Lifetime Return Guarantee

Every dog adopted through Willow’s Wish remains our responsibility for life. If circumstances change and you can no longer keep your dog, they must be returned to us.

  • Dogs may not be rehomed, sold, or surrendered elsewhere
  • This applies at any point in the dog’s life
  • This policy exists to protect the dog and provide support for you

Training Support and Expectations

Dobermans are working dogs. They need structure, guidance, and clear communication.

We expect adopters to:

  • Continue training as recommended
  • Address behavioral needs proactively
  • Seek professional help when needed

Willow’s Wish is a balanced training–friendly rescue. We support communication-focused methods that are safe, humane, and effective. We are open to discussing tools and approaches that meet the needs of each individual dog.

Ongoing Veterinary Responsibilities

Once adopted, you are responsible for:

  • Regular vet care
  • Emergency care as needed
  • Keeping vaccinations current
  • Meeting all licensing and bylaw requirements
  • Keeping ID and microchip information up to date

Training tools and methods may be discussed openly. Willow’s Wish prioritizes clear communication and humane, effective training tailored to the individual dog.

Home & Lifestyle Requirements

Adopters must provide:

  • Safe, secure housing
  • Daily exercise and mental stimulation
  • Supervision and containment
  • Compliance with housing and municipal regulations

We consider breed experience, home dynamics, and your lifestyle carefully before making any placement decisions.

Application & Approval Process

Submitting an application does not guarantee approval. Willow’s Wish may:

  • Decline applications that are not a good fit
  • Request additional information or references
  • Prioritize time-sensitive or urgent placements

All decisions are made in the best interest of the dog.
